Happy Monday!
We’re continuing our SportsCenter-worthy Sports Theme this Wednesday morning. Join us as we welcome Larry Williams, Director of Athletics at The University of Akron!
Also, we’re going to get an update from The United Disability Services (UDS) on their recreational sports programs. Our Cluster (Hudson, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, Hudson Clocktower, Northampton) raised funds to provide uniforms and sports equipment. We raised $3,500 which was matched by the District to provide $7,000 worth of IMPACT to an amazing local organization.
See you on Wednesday,

Rotary Entertains Sports Theme Speakers
The Rotary Club of Hudson led off their current focus on regional sports with an update by Bob Dibiasio, Senior Vice President Public Affairs with the Cleveland Indians who provided a positive outlook for the 2019 season and discussed some of the significant changes occurring in major league baseball.
The first meeting in January featured Ben Curtis, local retired PGA tour golfer who won the 2003 British Open and helped win the Valhalla Ryder Cup for the USA. Ben revealed his secrets to succeeding in golf and described his new Golf Academy associated with the Country Club of Hudson. He expects his students to build mental toughness, learn course management and adopt good nutrition habits. Ben and his wife Candace are also growing their Family Foundation to benefit needy Kent school children providing “Birdie Bags” of food and a “Very Merry Dinner” at holiday time.
The Benefits to the Hudson Community and to you of being a 2019 Gala Sponsor
The Rotary Club of Hudson invites you to join a select group of individuals, community organizations and businesses that have supported the Annual Gala for 34 years. Held in May each year, the Gala features a silent auction accompanied by cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and a full course dinner with open bar followed by a rousing live auction of big ticket donated gift packages.
Typically 300 of your Hudson area friends and community leaders attend this festive evening to support their community. A Gala booklet highlights the beneficiaries, sponsors, advertisers and the live auction items. Patrons can also review the sponsors and auction items on-line before and during the event using their I-phones to place bids.

French Rotary Youth Exchange Student reflects on High School life in Hudson
Lea Lafond lives in Saint-Raphael located in Southern France between Nice and Marseille where the weather is always “perfect”. Don’t ask how she is enjoying our lake effect blasts in northern Ohio!
Lea graduated from high school in science in three years and will study graphic arts at Haute Ecole Albert Jacquard in Belgium after attending Hudson High School for a year. Passionate about photography, Lea publishes her nature pictures on a Facebook page. She also enjoys dance competition, playing the cello and the piano, drawing and writing.
Hoping to become more independent, confident and cultured during her stay in the USA, Lea also looks forward to becoming accomplished in our language. Her stepfather is her role model, currently president of the youngest Rotary Club in France created in 2007.
Interviewed by a Rotary Club of Hudson member, Lea offered her thoughts in response to the following questions:
