Past Meeting

Rotarians and Apollo's Fire Fans Mimi Becker and Patricia Goetz with Nicole Fehrmann.
Apollo's Fire has grown to become a jewel in the Northeast Ohio Arts Environment.  The Baroque Orchestra began in 1992 under the guidance of Jeanette Sorrell with the backing of key members of the Cleveland Orchestra management team.  They have been nationally and internationally recognized as one of the premier groups performing early music on historical instruments.  Their logo is Passion. Period. and their performances are lively and intimate.  They have also been strong supporters of our annual Gala providing tickets and CD's.  They have an impressive YouTube presence with more than 2 million views worldwide featuring their programming of baroque as well as cross-over music.  Their presence in the community is significant, performing at Libraries and Art Museums, Jazz and Nightclubs.  They have also initiated the Mosaic Project to encourage musicians of all backgrounds.  Next concert up for them is Bach's B Minor Mass this coming weekend.  It will be performed with a larger ensemble and a chorus.  Several preview selections are available on YouTube now.  Check them out!

...President Kelly will be awarding the Jim Sutphin Award and the Rotarian of the Year Award at the Annual Gala on May 16th.  This allows for greater community awareness and publicity for these prestigious honors.  Please forward any nominees for these awards directly to him via email at kbrennan@roadrunner.com
...Gala Update:  we are collecting $20 donations or a bottle of wine from Club Members to support a Wine Pull at the Gala in May.  We are switching the Wine collection from a Raffle to an offering that allows every donation to result in the bottle of wine going home with the recipient.  If you choose to make a cash donation, we can take advantage of bulk buying and ensure that we avoid duplicates.
...If you enjoy receiving your birthday card from your fellow Rotarians, it is Liz Ramsey-Iannaggi who works behind the scenes to recognize everyone special day.  A shout out to Liz!
