Happy Monday! We welcome Dr. Michael Lehman to Rotary this week. Dr. Lehman is the Director of Kent State University's Brain Health Research Institute.

Also, we have a Special Guest joining us for the last time - Lea LaFond! Lea is our amazing Exchange Student from Saint Raphael, France. We're going to hear about her experience and many adventures!

Our Fine Day on May 29th raised $150. Thank you! Those funds were donated to the World War I Memorial in downtown Hudson. Learn more about that project here!

Kindergarten students will connect nature and technology in the classroom by designing 3D printed plant vessels and building a "living wall" in the classroom. Working with high school makerspace students, kindergarteners will design a "living wall" where they can conduct experiments growing different plants and watch the life cycle of plants. By incorporating the 3D printer, students will become engineers designing and producing vessels that not only have their own artistic design elements, but also promote healthy plant growth. Students will simultaneously participate in the entire process of developing a product and cultivating healthy natural environment, building a nature-technological connection in a real world setting. By infusing the learning of how to design and make objects with a 3D printer, students will develop a foundational skill using computers to create useful objects in everyday life.

Rotary Gala a Great Success in its 35th year
Generous sponsors, gift contributors, attendees and auction participants created another successful Gala for the Rotary Club of Hudson and for Hudson community projects. Major gifts donated included lake and rail excursions, professional services, golf outings, swim parties, use of luxury cars, sporting events, wine tasting and exclusive dining. The evening was marked by a lively silent auction cocktail hour, a delicious dinner of steak, shrimp and gourmet desert, piano music and a live auction with enthusiastic competitive bidding.

Attended by 260 local citizens, Hudson leaders, Boy Scouts, artists and local dignitaries, the event generated over $72,000 in funds for this year’s beneficiaries: The Gift of Life program of Northeast Ohio; Hudson Community First’s Workshop “Uncharted Waters…What Every Senior Needs to Know Before Going to College; and the Boy Scout Cabin on the Green renovations.
