Democratic State Representative Casey Weinstein is running for re-election in the Ohio House District 37 where he has served since 2019.
In Casey’s family, public service is a way of life. His grandfather, father, brother, brother-in-law, and wife Amanda all served or are serving in the armed forces. He has always strived to actively engage in his community. In Dayton, he was recognized as a ‘Top 40 Under 40’ Community Leader and has been more recently recognized as one of ’30 for the Future’ by the Greater Akron Chamber of Commerce. In 2015 he was elected to serve on Hudson City Council, where he worked every day to make a positive impact for his constituents.
With over a decade of experience as a leader and top performer in the information technology industry, Casey’s business acumen and perspective will help Ohio attract good-paying 21st century jobs to our communities.
Casey recognizes that the only way to make real change is through collaboration. He has a bipartisan record of achievement on Hudson City Council, where he focused on economic development, broadband expansion and partnering with private groups to enhance city parks.
From interning with Republican Congresswoman Heather Wilson in high school to serving on U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown’s Service Academy Nomination board, Casey knows the value of building bridges between parties, and of listening to the perspectives of all of the voters he represents to get the mission done.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Casey served at Wright-Patterson AFB alongside his wife Amanda. They later moved to Northeast Ohio to start their family and spend their lives contributing to a bright future for all Ohioans.
Sue Wimer and Kres Stoehr shared the work done by the First Serve Program. For the past eleven years, First Serve has been an annual day of service, held during the second Sunday in September (September 11th this year), led by First Congregational Church of Hudson in partnership with the Islamic Society of Akron and Kent, Temple Beth Shalom of Hudson and supported by many other faith communities in Hudson and the Akron area. They focus their projects in the North Hill Community.
They introduced Katie, a Hudson High School Senior, who spent the summer as one of 6 paid interns working with First Serve. Three of the interns were from Hudson and three were from the North Hill Community. The program was successfully introduced last year. It is an innovative way to introduce and involve youth in the work.
