This Week's Meeting

This Wednesday, May 18th, we will be continuing our year of “Serving to Change Lives”.

Scott Swaldo joined the Gervasi team in November, 2009 and is responsible for the oversight of all operations and development. Scott is a graduate of Northern Arizona University with a MPT in Physican Therapy.  After several career changes, Scott felt like this was what he was meant to do. He loves working at Gervasi because of the great people he works with everyday who are passionate about what they do.  it allows him to be creative and focus his efforts on providing customers a memorable experience, employees an opportunity to grow and an enjoyable place to work. What makes the Gervasi experience amazing is their ability to make people feel like they have truly escaped or have been transported to somewhere very special.

Favorite GV Spot: The Piazza during a warm summer night at dusk, the gas lanterns lit, the music playing…the feeling is incredible.
Favorite GV Dish: Tuscan Beef Short Ribs
Favorite GV Wine: Truscano
Favorite Quote: “Staying the same is falling behind.”

Recap of our Last Meeting

(Left to Right) Andrew Hartline, Benjamin Parnell, Delaney DeGuonimo, Marty Hills, Audrey Fuller, Caroline VonVille and Peyton Binns.

It was our Scholarship Meeting and it is probably the best attended meeting we have all year and with good reason.  Marty Hills, widow of Robert G Hills for whom this year's scholarship were named, was there in her finest to hear the tribute given by Ed Sogan.  What a wonderful couple who made so many contributions to our community.  Bob and Marty were one of the founders of the Hudson Boosters Club and instrumental in the building of Lavelle Field.

But this day was all about the six very talented Seniors who earned this scholarship.  Each was introduced by an influential teacher, except for Andrew Hartline who was introduced by his very proud older brother Blake who was also a former Hudson Rotary Scholar.  Peyton Binns was introduced by her 5th grade teacher Mrs. Niverrt and her little sister.  Delaney DeGeronimo was introduced by Hong Le, elementary music teacher.  Audrey Fuller chose Scott Stonestreet, Technology teacher.  Benjamin Farrell was introduced by Mrs. O'Connor, his band teacher.  Caroline VonVille chose Ms. Stiffler, her English teacher.  Congratulations to all!  It was exciting to hear about their future plans.

And Did You Know

..Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!  Pictured above are Dottie Page, Liz Ramsey and Connie Ulrey at the 2022 Rotary Foundation Gala. Pat Scherer did a great job of stepping in as MC for Ron Strobl who was ill. If anyone has good photos of the Gala, please share with Jay Yard.  We'd like 'em all!
...Take a quick drive out to Ellsworth Hills Elementary and check out the Gorgeous Garden.  There are 7 plant species blooming RIGHT now including the poppies seen above with many, many more set to show their colors very soon.  This Garden looks a whole lot different this year over last!  The pollinators have wintered well and filled in the spaces nicely.
...This month we will be gathering new and gently used clothing, shoes and books for children between the ages of 3 & 5 for the HeadStart Program.  There is a strong need for shoes.  Thank you to Terri Bortnik for leading this drive.
