Global Grant & Shelter Box Projects
Will Underwood of the Rotary Club of Kent will introduce us to the effort for a global grant for the Apolinario Serrano Solar Powered Water Project in El Salvador.  The Rotary Club of Kent is excited to be heading up a global grant for this impactful water project.

When families are forced to leave their homes, they leave everything behind. That is when organizations like ShelterBox International step in. ShelterBox provides shelter, essential items, and technical assistance to over 225,000 people per year, helping them to recover and rebuild their homes after disaster and conflict. ShelterBox listens and adapts their support to the needs of each community, working together with those affected by disaster, alongside our supporters and partners.

Kara Lapso has been a member of ShelterBox’s disaster response team for over ten years and have been honored to deploy with them six times, mostly to nonheadline-making events. On these deployments, she has seen firsthand that, as an organization, we are fast, strong, and nimble, with priceless local connections through partnerships with Rotary Clubs, Habitat for Humanity International, International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent, and others.  Kara Lapso, a Cleveland-born licensed social worker now living in Akron, has deployed with ShelterBox to support communities displaced by disasters in the Philippines (twice), Malawi, Sri Lanka, Ecuador, and Antigua & Barbuda.
