The Role of Hospice in Our Healthcare System

Rich Piekarski, Presidnet of Gardens of the Western Reserve Hospice, and Hanna Schindley, LPN Site Adminisgtrator, will join us to speak about Hospice Care--What it is, What it isn't,  What it offers and How to access care.  Their mission is to facilitate compassionate, dignified, end-of-life care, and personalized quality services that allow their patients to b e empowered to live life meaningfully, peacefully and comfortably for the duration of services.  At one time, a committment to Hospice care was restricted to the last six months of an individual's life.  The result was that many patients were enrolled for a very short period of time. That is no longer true.  President Jimmy Carter was enrolled in Hospice Care in February 2023.  He will be celebrating his 100th birthday on OIctober 1.  Mr. Piekarski has been a loyal friend to our Rotary Club strongly supporting our recent Galas.
