This Wednesday, April 10th, we will be celebrating our 2023-2024 year of Creating Hope in the World.  Thank you to Jim Lang for engaging our speakers during this month's focus on Summer Fun.
 
Andrea Hartman is the Marketing Director for Gervasi Vineyard. Her responsibilities include creating and implementing the marketing plan to increase awareness of Gervasi Vineyard Resort & Spa and The Twisted Olive. Previously, Ms. Hartman was the Director of Events for the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce's Event Department. She is a graduate from Pennsylvania State University with a degree in Public Relations. She has extensive experienced with marketing, event planning, retail sales, social media, and administrative.  
 
Ms. Hartman will give us an overview of upcomong events and special engagements scheduled at Gervasi.  She will also share new services, dining enhancements and wine education events sponsored by Gervasi.  It's a wonderful day trip experience!  Gervasi has long been a strong supporter of our Gala!  This year they have donated a $500 Gift Certificate toward dining or any spa or hotel experiences!
 
We will be voting for the new leadership of our Rotary Club for year 2024-2025 at the next meeting.  please consider attending the meeting to participate in the election.  The following candidates are proposed by your Board of Directors:

Upcoming Meetings

1.  April 12 - Gala Committee Meeting  from Noon - 1:00 p.m. at the Hudson Community Foundation Board Room.  We are now in weekly meeting mode.  It's time to get serious about preparing for our major fundraiser of the year. 
 
2.  April 17 Foundation Board Meeting.immediately following the General Session.  All active Rotarians are encouraged to attend.  The Foundation is seeking three new Board Membersn (3 year term beginning July 1, 2024).  If you are interested, please contact Keith Viers.

Pictures above are President Terri with 4-Way Rotarian Club Chair Jim Ahern, Todd Gilbert (WRA-English Teacher) , Andrea Zhang (WRA-4th), Silas Graser(HHS-3rd), Peter McGinnis (WRA-2nd), Gabriella Skomra (HHS-1st) and Donalee Ong (WRA-Theater Teacher).  We had four outstanding students present their speeches and the topics were very diverse ranging from Food Deserts to Education Reform to Fast Fashion Environmental Concerns to LGBTQ discrimination.  All were excellent.  Gabriella Skomra placed first and will advance to the District Contest representing HHS.  We also will advance our second place winner, Peter McGinnis, to the District Contest representing WRA.  This is the first time that we are able to promote two contestants to the District Contest.  We are so proud to report that Peter McGinnis was awarded the First Prize at the District 6630 4-Way Speech Contest last Saturday, April 6th.  He represented Hudson well!  Congratulations to Peter!

...The 6630 District Conference is scheduled for April 26-27 at the Sheriton Suites, Cuyahoga Falls.  We have several Club members who are active at the District Level:  Rich Warfield, Assistant Treasurer, Fr. Joe Boysel, Chaplain, and Patrick Scherer, Board Member. Consider attending at least a portion of the program.
...Marilyn Orr won $9 in the 50/50 raffle but it was a clear marble that was pulled.  $180+ remains to be claimed!  
...Did you know that Hudson was initially seated in 1799? That makes this year our 225th Anniversary!  Expect to see a real show of enthusiasm at the Memorial Day Parade!  The city will be celebrating all summer long!  Go Hudson!  
...Donations this month will be made to Safer Futures, the only shelter and resource center providing support and other services to those affected by intimate partner violence in Portage County.  They need cleaning supplies--any and all, paper towels, toilet cleaner, etc.  And as always, cash is helpful!
