Past Meeting
Gervasi Vineyard was the post-retirement project of Ted Swaldo. He found a struggling tree farm named Jabberwokky and had the vision to see what it might become. 14 years after opening, Andrea Hartman, the Director of Marketing, has a most compelling story to share. The Q&A session was quite lively as we learned that a large part of their success has been the quick acknowledgement of a mistake and implementing the pivot that will correct the issue and move on. The initial planting of grapes proved not to be the right variety for an inland vineyard, The solution--get them out and plant what is needed to produce a quality product. The initial Crush House restaurant menu was quickly upgraded to match the expectation of customers. And growth and success has followed. They now produce spirits, have a high end gift shop and dining option for most budgets. Recent additions include a luxury spa in 2023 and private tasting experiences. They are also now a prime destination for up to 8 weddings per weekend. The results a wonderful job generator for the Canton and NE OH. This is a company to watch.
